Meet at Marquis of Wellington
Meeting Point: Marquis of Wellington, 21 Druid St, London, SE1 2HH
Saturdays – 2pm – 4pm
We’ll go on a guided tasting tour of some of London’s best new microbreweries and drinking holes in the area known as the Bermondsey Beer Mile.
We’ve been running ‘craft beer’ brewery tours in the area since 2014 and we’ll guide you through a beer tasting where we sample at least one drink at each stop & visit at least 3 different locations for tastings on this tour.
Depending on the day of your visit, you’ll sample a selection from: Anspach & Hobday, Brew by Numbers, Bottle Shop, Southwark Brewery, UBREW, Partizan Brewery, Bianca Road, Affinity, Hiver Beers, Spartan & Fourpure.
You’ll be accompanied with your knowledgeable guide along the journey who’ll talk you through the history of brewing in the area and how all the new breweries started out – sampling great beer along the way!
Bermondsey was previously home to the London breweries who were responsible for churning out gallons of Porter and exporting Russian Stout overseas. The breweries closed in the late 1970’s due to the increasing popularity of imported continental larger. We’ll learn more about this on the tour. Fast forward to the 2010’s and the area has revived the brewing traditions of it’s past with at least 6 new breweries starting production.
At least 3 drinks are included however you may wish to purchase more at each location or take home beers too. We’ll meet in the pub as it’s warm and dry. Just ask at the bar for a table that will be booked under ‘UK Brewery Tours’ and we’ll be there at the start time ready to meet.
Experience last around 2 hours in total and a bit of walking is involved – but not too much!
